Oh, so it's some sort of plastic device designed to teach your retriever in training not to eat the duck, basically?

I have seen those before. I think they are a good idea if your retriever will ever be a duck hunter, but mine will not be. My dog is very good at retrieving, instinctually, but he likes really silly stuffed dog toys that are all soft and have bunny tails and make sweet squeaky noises. When we buy our Shih Tzu very little fluffy things that are appropriate for her size and temperment, he sort of adopts them. They look ridiculous in his huge mouth. Right now he is laying on the kitchen floor alseep, with his head cradled on one of those dog toys for two--a very long neon green caterpillar that he can grab to play tug with our Sheltie.
