Indeed. But they still seem bent upon using violence in order to acquire territory.

Again, the international double standard applies because whereas, the Palestinians are seen as an occupied people, the Tibetan's are not.

However the line in the sand for expansion of the empire needs to be drawn and not beyond the potential peaceful reunification with taiwan.

I concur. Any aggression, or outright invasion, against Taiwan needs to be met, if only to "send the message" that China can not "bully" it's neighbors around.

As an aside, I am watching the recent outbreak of tensions between China and Japan with great interest. We may see China's anti-Japan campaign spur more political power to the right wing.

It may also cause Japan to eventually re-militarize, perceiving a threat (and definite loss of face) as China grows economically and militarily stronger.

Might just be the thing that boosts the Japanese economy out of depression (though I'm not wishing for it).
