Luxury Beef Niche A classic "good idea gone wrong." You are a rancher in ND and now you can go to jail for raising your beef the "wrong" way? The unstated reason for the State law is that it is illegal under federal law to advertise your beef as being tracked and inspected so as to be free of mad cow. This is an attempt to get around it. As far as "we can give our ranch hands a raise," let's get real. The rancher is out to make a buck. Like any other businessman, he will pay what he is forced to for ranch hands.
