Why shouldn't the Democrats focus on the public interest instead of the "upside" to them? Democrats have become a minority party because they fail to communicate credible solutions for problems or even a credible philosophy toward problems. I hear more and more of my friends claim that they don't know what Democrats are for - and neither do I - other than seeking power for themselves by worrying about the "upside" at the expense of younger generations. Not long ago, Democrats owned the younger generations. They had ideas that made sense to young people. Those days appear over as Democrats sacrifice the young to keep feeding the gluttony of the baby boomers. They don't have to agree with the Republicans but at least have an idea of their own! Even James Carville thinks they should have a plan of their own!
