My point was simply that in order to achieve a multitude of tasks, much faster processors are needed. Most people confine their views of possibilities to today's appliances. The PC itself as a platform will likely not survive the next twenty years.

We need purpose driven appliances that are small and wirelessly interconnected and ever closer interfaced to a human being. My image recognition example didn't make sense to you but to a blind person it would in a second. However, if that same interface were used to convey a movie or a game instead of using your eyes, then it would become rather interesting... Think of experiencing another person's experience.

Even in your preferred PC networking scenario there are plenty of applications to think of.

I am sure you would like online music and video on demand not this silly download stuff. I am sure at the same time you would love to video talk to your German buddy from Frankfurt in English while he speaks to you in German using real-time translation. Just try that on your present processor not that your current Internet connection will play along.

Enough on this subject for this time.
