I disagree. The status quo must be defended as a better alternative (if it really is).
This is the problem that the Democrats have - the truth about the status quo is indefensible to young people and without young people, the Democratic party continues the withering process that it is engaged in. That leaves two alternatives - pretend the truth is something other than it is, that the demographic trends are not real, and thus be dishonest, or stay silent and hope nobody notices that you have no ideas to effectively communicate about anything, including the status quo.
