So a very right-wing organization whose stated intent is to destroy all environmental groups is attacking the owner of Esprit, who does have a conscience and has done an enormous amount of good in the world, particularly in South America, protecting very precious and irreplaceable environments.

And you think that the very right-wing organization whose entire focus is maximizing corporate profits while actually destroying the planet has the moral high ground here?

I cannot understand this thinking at all. There are some corporate heads who realize that we do not have the right to degrade the earth and its species, and are willing to accept really reasonable profits and at the same time pay fair wages, minimize pollution, and advocate for peoples who are not as advantaged as Americans. I think this is a really socially responsible kind of capitalism.

Who is going to buy products when there is nothing left? Why can't responsible corporations be stewards of the earth, of sustainability, of fair trade? What actually gives corporations the right to rape and plunder all our resources and resell them for profit until there is absolutely nothing left? The earth and the air and the sea don't belong to corporations. They belong to everyone, at least at the point where we are about to lose them completely. Sensible, fair regulation of corporations is the only way that we can balance everyone's interests.
