Brian, I don't dispute the concept...we have millions of miles of roads, bridges, and transportation corridors in need of repair or replacement. We can't maintain the roads and infrastructure that we have now. Perhaps the methods and construction requirements need to have specifications to last for 50+ years with minimal maintenance necessary. We do need additional highway systems but that encourages more individual drivers rather than a viable and cost effective public transportation system. Kind of reminds me of that 60's environmental song by Joanie Mitchell....."they took paradise and put up a parking lot!"
