I think the very fact that the homicide bombings seem to be the only "insurgent activity" of significance and the increased pace of those attacks as the newly elected government takes shape indicate a growing desperation by those thugs.....

It seems to me that we are both unable to win or lose this war

"That's what the other side wants, "

Cant help that Nadine. America as the worlds policeman doesnt take into account the fact that we peace loving nation which is uncomfortable with open ended committments. Thats what those dudes on bills thread cant ever get. I am not making a value judgement here, just stating facts. If it is not clear like WW2, and more like korea, and vietnam, it will not play well over time. Personally i am not sure conditions on the ground are really any different this year thab last. Sure Falujah has been neutralzed and many holy warriors killed but more come to replace them and they reassemble in other places. 80% of the pop is shiaa and kurd. The majority of sunnis want a non-terror, not baath alternative. All parties want us out of sunni and shiaa areas. Give them dates. Give them guns, air support and whatever they need but expect from them that they go after the terrorists and not to play games with them like Abbas does in palestine. They need to win their country by winning the war. The more they rely on us the more trouble they will guarantee i fear. mike
