Both those projects could probably be put together out of the science classes. Potter,the mushroom guy, is the science teacher. He started that program when the school began an integrated study course for a group of kids; I think that morphed from the GATE program.
Potter's an interesting guy. He wrote the shroom field guide for north coast, while in college. He and Hanabal, my middle kid, started the project; Hanabal had shroom logs growing at home, and sold them at the Farmer's Market. He and Potter also went shrooming for a year or two. Usually there are wholesale buyers around, but, when the price dropped, Hanabal loaded up his car and drove in to Japan Town (SF) and sold them out of his trunk, at the retail prices :-)

There is also a complete farm program at another school in the county; I'll see if I can find it.
