Given the accuracy of our intel & media on the WMD front, I'd suspect your second comment applies equally well to Saddam & his mukhabarat's accomplishments wrt to the average compliant Iraqi.



The mass graves don't lie. Nor do the numbers of surviving kin. Completely different situation.

Since 2003, there have been a number of polls where Iraqi's claimed they were safer under Saddam then under the Americans.


One has to look at the question. Usually "security" questions are aimed at public law and order questions. There's no doubt that the streets were safer under Saddam. Totalitarian regimes manage safe streets pretty well - because the criminal class is either locked up or working for the government.
