I believe if we left, Iraq would develop into three states. Our attempt to maintain the status quo without Saddam-scale repression will fail. It's just a matter of how much blood and treasure we stubbornly waste on the project.

Perhaps if we had reached for a three-state solution earlier, we might have had more success. I can't see Bush doing it now, which means at least three more years of what we've got, which is chaos.
