An exaggeration at best. It was a very dangerous mission... It certainly was a dangerous mission. Landing in open water with no available cover. Charging through water and sand against German fortifications. As I understand it there was a demographic profile that Eisenhower directed where the youngest and least trained were the first wave. The most expendable. Heard that from a BBC program while living in England. I do understand the distinction you make and it is worthy of note. But the practical reality is that the distinction is such a fine line as to have no real meaning. We like to call ours "dangerous missions" and call theirs "suicide missions". That makes us better than them. jttmab
