the strange thing is 'they' are living in a new age where 'they' are no longer information gatekeepers...

apparently 'they' haven't figured it out yet...

wonder how many more self-destructs we'll see before that reality finally takes hold

The mainstream press has lost any claim to the benefit of doubt. This is just the latest in irresponsible reporting.

Of course, they still have their fans, especially one like this one, who "prefers mistakes" over careful reporting.

Newsweek did not know it was printing a garbage story. The information they printed was given to them by a senior U.S. government official, and the Pentagon did not challenge its veracity when they reviewed the story before it went to print.

Why not blame the U.S. government, including the Pentagon, instead? That would be much more logical to me.
