That is why everybody went both ballistic and political.

And far be it for me to get in the way of one of those outraged bandwagons...

It was a major fake by the MSM.

But, really, if this were all part of that plot to embarrass Bush, a plot that the entire MSM is in on, how come none of those lefty MSMers, who surely read Newsweek, jumped on it? C'mon.

I understand how this could bring to a head the frustration you speak of. But you'd think that several days afterwards, the hyperbole would have run its course and the sounder arguments, of which there are plenty, would prevail.

A while back we had a discussion about something, I don't remember what, that CBS reported on air and the LA Times didn't pick up. Big kerfuffle. So here Newsweek makes this assertion and no one picked up on it. No one. Not the left, which didn't run with it. Not the left, which didn't complain about it. No one picked up on it but some radical in Afghanistan or wherever who started a riot with it. An no one finds that interesting.
