how come none of those lefty MSMers, who surely read Newsweek, jumped on it?

There is not a day that goes by that the MSM doesn't run a lot of "Gitmo" rumors. They just didn't run with this one.

the point isn't what Newsweek intended here, it's what they did - they ran a wrong, single-source story with no great news-worthiness except to light another match under the Administration's running of Gitmo - except this time they lit a match that burned the house down. There is a major setback to US efforts in Afghanistan (until now a success story that Newsweek couldn't be bothered to cover) and there are and will be many dead people whose deaths are attributable to this story.

When conservatives look at events like this, they say, functionally the MSM are working for the other side. They're not even neutral.

And how can you blame them? That's the effect.
