Actually from what I know of the nomination meeting last night, I think more and more small c conservatives will be left with no where to go.
Instead of making Stronach's move look like something to be seriously looked at Harper made it look like unbridled opportunism. So with Belinda gone and two Newfoundland votes gone, Harper is left swinging in the breeze. If he had not been so eager and simply been outraged with every detail of the Gomery, and hammered home just how toothless Gomery is, he might now be at the top of the poles. Instead of that, he is waging a religious war against Homosexuals, and losing the election again. If homosexuals or those with some inclination in that direction form 10% of the population and they have only 2 relations, that is 30 percent of the votes in the country. So Harper is hoping to get 50% of the votes in Canada from 70% of the country he is not alienating. Martin is trying to get 50% of the votes knowing that the same 30% of Canadians cannot vote for the Conservatives. And Martin has the right to walk around handing out money like it is going out of style. As a conservative, Harper appears to me to be better suited to slopping hogs than running a government.... The days of the Moral Majority imposing their arcane religious fetishes on the population are gone. Time Harper realised it and tried to act like he has a brain. The conservatives might look like a winner if they had elected almost anyone else to be leader.

Spotted Cat....."fresc appears to right ... Harper and the boys are not ready for prime time... sigh..."......

Those so called third world countries must be wondering about now as to what is so great about democracy... Theft of tax dollars...criminal activity.... and buying votes. Sounds just like a thrid world dictatorship. And all of these activities could well end up being rewarded by voters by returning liberals to power. If there should be an election....soon.... and liberals should win IMO Canada is doomed, it will mean we believe criminal activity within our government is ok.

I wonder does....not ready for prime time mean they are not yet corrupt enough to take over control of Canada?

Very sad.

The Re-Form mentality never left the new Conserv. Party. 1 step forward with Peter Kent and 3 steps back with Belinda.

I get a good laugh when I hear Harper saying it is motivated, she wants power? LOL! Ya think?

If she really wanted power she would just have to wait a few months for Harper to explode and then she would be leader.
I can only assume that there are still too many Right of Right freaks in the Conserv. group for her to just jump ship like she did.

Like Pete also mentioned, Gays and Abortion? Not going to win you alot of votes in the east. Unless you are in Alberta.

Harper cannot unite his party and he sure as hell never going to unite the Country.

Lets face it, she is a great pick up for the Libs.
