Price of land doesn't necessarily correlate to acreage. Depends on zoning rules and how many houses can profitably be built on a particular parcel, and how many lots the parcel can be divided into.

An eighth of an acre can sell for the same amount as one acre in certain places, if local market values support putting just as big and expensive a house on the eighth-acre as could be put on a whole acre.
