<<...Rose will come into his own as the RNC take over PBS and NPR in their entirety....>> His show currently is TOTALLY PRIVATE and receives funding from Individual foundations, from Bloomberg and corporations...There are NO TIES to PBS except for the fact that they agree to carry the show on most of the major local PBS stations around the country (5 nights each week)...I'm sure some of Rove's Operatives would like to boot The Charlie Rose Show off of all PBS stations -- that's not so easy though. -s2 btw, I think George Soros and his billionaire friends should start " a Progressive Alternative" to Rupert Murdoch's FoxNews Media Empire...I think it would have NO TROUBLE at all attracting top talent, plenty of viewers and big advertisers too...;-)

Re: I still think Bush would shut down the internet backbone under permanent martial law. The Chinese Communist Party has tried this with mixed success. Bush would receive a hell of a lot of "push back" if he tried this in too blatant a fashion. If I were a completely deceitful a-hole and had the full use of all secret government apparatus, what I'd do is to create a cluster-f*ck of spyware, trojans, indecency, annoyance, denial of service attacks and other means to disrupt the public Internet and then offer the sheeple sanctuary behind walled gardens of corporately controlled and filtered internet access. A direct attack on the Internet would raise the anxiety of far too many libertarians as well as Lefties. But a secret government campaign to destroy the utility of the Internet with an anonymous warez campaign.... now that's the way to fight democracy!
