You are quite wrong. The EU has provided significant benefits to many. Freedom of Movement has allowed people to travel where the jobs are whereas before you needed hard to get work permits.

Competition across borders has increased dramatically forcing businesses to become much more efficient and therefore competitive.

In addition, it was quite troublesome and risky to purchase real property in a number of desirable countries (Spain as an example) as the local laws required local interest.

True regarding the French - they would like ot run all the "OTHER" countries in the EU. Never heard a good think about the "Elite" there except of taking bribes
