Have you tried to feed and house and doctor a family of four on $50k? Tens of millions of Americans familes of 4 or larger get by much or less. I guess you think that there life sucks. I suspect the majority of them would disagree with you. I see......you think living on $50k for a family of four is fun and games. I don't believe that's the case. Certainly they are by almost any measure wealthier then most of the rest of the world and doing ok compared to the typical family of four over most of our history. So what? That sounds very patronizing. Besides, $50k is not good by US standards.........and that should be the only standard that matters when it comes to this issue. There are many people in this society who are no better who make so much money they don't know what to do with it. When capital is so poorly distributed in a society, it only hurts that society. When I said it was an average income, I was talking about median income per worker not median income per family of four. A family of four can and often does have more than one worker. It might even have 4. So what......the median income of $50k includes those families. My original statement was about individuals making around $50k, not entire families. If you want to make some claim about median income of $50k feel free to do so, but it was not part of the conversation up to this point. $50k is far from wealthy but it is a solid middle class income. If you think $50k/year is poverty than I can see why you think poverty is rampant in the US. I never said it was poverty but its not a healthy income even for one person. ted
