Torture has been around since the beginning of mankind, the US did it in the revolutionary War, civil war, WW1 2 Korea, Nam. you name a war and there has been torture

A small and controversial part. The problem is that the one being tortured will tell you what they think the torturer wants to hear. So, in the past, it tended to be reserved for the ones they were pretty sure knew something. Not just random street sweepings as seems to be the case in all the ones we have heard about. This is more along the lines of torture because we can.

Oh, I suppose it is justified internally as a measure to psychologically intimidate the general population. But Americans never had to use fear before. Something is desperately wrong with an administration that thinks that way.
