I know. I was talking to one conservative friend who asked why I voted for progressives. I mentioned the economy, the Constitution, human rights, scientific progress, education, health care, diplomacy, etc. And he simply said, "so that is the sort of thing that matters to you?"

"Uh, yeah. What matters to you?"

"The President's personal moral values."

So, the successfuly candidate has to be able to fake that.
