He has authority over things that are Afghan. American troops have a sworn allegiance to America.

Even when they are on the soil of a "free" country? Look, either Karzai has the authority over anything that is in Afghanistan, including US troops, in which case he is governing a free country. Or he has no/limited authority, in which case he is a puppet.

If America decides what authority Karzai has and has not, over what happens in Afghanistan, then neither Afghanistan nor Karzai is free.

I would respect your views, even if I disagree with them, if you at least acknowledge the reality and say that Karzai is America's puppet.
