The results of democracy can be just as horrible as the results of force. Hitler was elected, after all (not that I am comparing anyone to Hitler, so don't anyone say that, because I absolutely am not- I'm just saying, he was elected.) So yes, I think we can use Vichy as an example- I'm not actually comparing it to anything, nor was I the one who brought France up.

Remember the example is all about how people who love their country might be inspired to complain about it, despite their love. I would have complained about Hitler, even though he was elected. I thought Nixon was a problem. I was very annoyed by what Clinton did in Bosnia. I was unhappy with Carter giving back the Panama canal. I've complained a lot about elected leaders and what they do- and I think it's important to continue to do so. The more people who do not do it, the more important a job it becomes (imo).
