Connecticut state senate passes $100 mln stem cell bill :The Connecticut state senate on Thursday approved spending $100 mln over 10 years to fund stem cell research, including the embryonic research that right-to-life groups oppose. The bill now goes to the House, where it has support from the speaker. Conn. Gov. M. Jodi Rell (R) was quoted by the Associated Press as saying she would be "proud to sign the bill when it reaches my desk." Briefing.com Note: While the amount is not as large as other states are proposing (CA $3 bln, NY $1 bln, IL $1 bln, NJ $500 mln, NC amount being discussed), these stocks tend to trade on headlines like these. Would watch the usual suspects, GERN, ASTM, STEM and VIAC.
