Ah, a misstatement on my part. I meant eliminating the cap on income subjected to the SS tax. I think the present cap is $90,000. It should have been apparent from the context. Perhaps it was not.

As it stands now, the SS tax is regressive, beginning sharply at the $90,000 level.

So, to repeat myself. Best solution to the SS problem, such as it is, is to eliminate the cap and reduce the deficit.
