without reference to current exemptions, deductions, dependents and possible itemized deductions plus chid tax credits.. i doubt many families with a couple of kids pay any federal income tax if they earn less than $35,000.

Now if we just stopped the nonsense of requiring these people to file taxes each year.

I expect a lot of these people are also getting food stamps etc. If we wanted we could look at an offset in social programs vs filing income taxes each year.

I doubt any changes in tax would change these people votes in considering social programs etc. It just seems such a waste to see the poor and elderly filing into various locations to get their taxes done every year to pay a small amount of tax that probably costs the IRS as much in cost to process.
