i remember south carolina.. mobil won the rights to drill off their coast and paid millions for leases (two/three decades ago).. then it all got held up the courts by south carolina filing suits...
i think after two decades and mobil going all the way to supreme court did they win their battle with federal gov to get their money back for those leases.. this was a few years back.

Now i am confused how someone would think one oil company is paying off bush to get leases taken away from another oil company. or maybe it to open up the other leases. based on south carolina suits i think this is all nonsense for years to come. Energy bill is going to over ride state rights? without a fight in the courts.?

it sounds more like these oil companies want their money back on the old leases they have been held up on off the coast of ca.
