Ted, That's where you and I disagree. I don't believe all people are cut out of the same cardboard and have the same agenda.

The "new set of idiots" I'm talking about are the ones you are voting for, and the "new set of obstructionists" are the ones I'm voting for, so the political deadlock will continue. Why? Because frankly that's what everyone is used to, and we'll continue down that same path until the next crisis hits. Will it be Social Security? Health Care? A nuke going off in L.A.?

It's the "attack the messenger" strategy. You "hate" the war, as many of us do, so you point out the costs. They can't argue with the facts, so they equate "hating" the war to "hating America". It's just another form of the "America, Love It or Leave It" bumper sticker syndrome from the Vietnam era.

Don't let them put you on the defensive. The true patriot is the person that continually questions the actions of the country, and that is sorely needed right now. The "just go along with the program" folks add nothing.
