Because if the US REALLY worked that way, those would be your choices. Either Hitler was going to keep Europe or he was going to be overrun by the USSR. And the Brits were in no position to influence the outcome. And "Monaco" wouldn't protect you; either side would get around to Europe's postage stamps sooner ot later- -probably sooner.Besides, I don't know how long it has been since you have strolled any major city's nightlife, but those and most other drugs are widely available without legalization anyway. I stay clear of them and the people who use and sell them, thank you. You?Taxes on manty items, such as cigaretees, alcoholic beverages, and gasoline are included in the price. That kind of thing is hard to exaggerate in a country that is 1 minute away from another country (France) and 15 minutes away from another (Italy). A lot of French who live around here cross the border to Italy to stock up on cigarettes, for example. Hey, lady, it's not out fault that most European countries are smaller than US states and many smaller than our counties. FYI, sales taxes vary between states here. It's not uncommon for residents of one state to cross into a state with lower tax, buy a high-end item there, and bring it back. Now legally, they owe their own state the difference in tax. Good luck on collecting it.So US residents of Monaco don't pay VAT? Because if they do, that is a misleading statement. If you look at the sentence in its entirety, it is rather obvious that I am talking about income tax and not sales tax (or VAT). Or, to put matters differently, US residents of (or even visitors to) Monaco pay to support that absolute dictator of yours. The only person to be misled could possibly be someone who had not followed the conversation at all AND saw only the half-sentence you cropped and posted. Somebody is trying to be misleading here, but it's not me.Re tax rates - Thanks for the table. I didn't mean to ask YOUR specific tax rate but was curious about average rates. Since you've asked: I don't have a tax rate, as I pay no taxes whatsoever on my income. No wonder you people are so backward. You clearly have NO CONCEPTION of the huge industry that can be built on the back of an incredibly complex income tax code. There are people such as my wife who can make a decent living just by knowing the ins and outs of it.US tax rates don't look that high to me, actually. Currently they aren't. They used to be MUCH higher, reaching 90%, back in the days when the Democrats controlled Congress and had a perpetual dream of a welfare state which they never realized in spite of the wealth they stole. Tax rates in UK, France, and Scandinavian countries in Europe are MUCH higher. Then again, they are mostly welfare states, so they would need much higher tax revenues. See above. May the good Lord God in his beneficience save us from that.>>>I guess you can at least agree that your taxes went to cause that was more beneficial to you and your loved ones under Clinton.<<< Rwanda? Yugoslavia? Money for the Food For Oil scandal? Selling the Lincoln Bedroom? An SEC trhat couldn't find its zipper, much less the frauds? Give me some help, I'm having a problem here. Cute :-) Obviously, I was referring to your taxes going to something other than carrying out a pointless invasion and subsequently sustaining a pointless occupation. All those billions and billions ticking away every day that passes... how could Clinton have spent your taxes in a more destructive way? Yeah, I got a lot of benefit out of getting involved in a civil war in Yugoslavia. Oh, that was YOUR back yard, WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU EUROPEANS ALL THOSE YEARS ANYWAY? EH? Destructive? Clinton built the biggest financial bubble in US history. Like all bubbles, it burst. You SURE you want to get into "destruction"?I've yet to hear of an America at war that had a balanced budget. Wrong question. Does that mean you agree with how your tax dollars are being spent in Iraq? We're in Iraq. OK? Like it or not, we're there. Do I approve of buying tanks, planes. M-16s, bullets, artillery pieces and shells, medical supplies and all the other necessities for our troops there? Yes. Absolutely. I would consider anything else grossly negligent. Next question.I heard they're in Syria. :-) LOL! Well, why don't you go invade and find out? If it doesn't work out, Bush can always dump the responsibility on CIA for "faulty intelligence" :-) Oh, we might. And if we can't find them there, France and Monaco are next on the list. :-)
