I think his attitude is fairly prevalent. It presumes that the US will always be on top and doesn't have to worry about future, unpleasant reactions to its current policies and behavior.

Oh sheesh, stop projecting your biases into my opinions. All I said was that the US's responsibility is more to do what is in the best interest of the US than to ensure Iraqi security. That doesn't imply anything about the US always being or worrying about the future.


Its quite amazing that you can say that with a straight face. The US invades and occupies a country, upsetting the culture and stability of a nation, and yet, is not responsible for what happens except as it effects the US? You're making quite a statement.......if that's not what you meant then you need to clear things up.

And just for the record, there can be consequences stemming from one's behavior. If the US does everything in Iraq only from the standpoint of what's best for the US, that can lead to reprisals further down the road. And its been my experience that those reprisals usually occur at the most inopportune moment for the victim.
