Clinton was against the Vietnam War and got a college deferment like Cheney did to avoid it. Deliberately. He has never claimed anything different. Unlike Bush who avoided the war with all kinds of tricks then had the nerve to write a book claiming and lying that he was a fighter pilot who fulfilled all his duties. Kerry was a bona fide war hero with a sterling record. Such a great record the rightwing decided they had to smear it with lies or else. Bush is the big pretender. A complete selfish, empty suit and charlatan. He even fakes his Texas accent. When he's out of the south it miraculously disappears and he's an east coast preppy rich kid again.
