The leader of North Vietnam's military stated that had it not been for John Kerry and the protests, they would have lost the war. That is why they honor him.

I remember listening to a speech where McCain paid glowing tributes to Kerry. He called Kerry a war-hero and said he deeply respected Kerry. Any differences he had over Kerry were "philosophical differences", McCain added. The next speaker was Kerry. And he complimented McCain for his selfless service to the nation.
