The majority of Iraqis DO want to nation-build. Why do you think they braved death to vote? And by the way, history tells us that Democracy can not only exist, but thrive, even with an insurgency. The U.S. has held elections every 4 years, even in the midst of a civil war, as well as during wholesale warefare with American Indians. The Iraqis will find the strength to do the same and eventually the insurgency will die out.

Now, I fervently hope we don't stay there for much more than another year or two, because I'd like to see us cut down on the costs of this war. But within 6-12 mos, the momentum being built by the new Iraq will be irreversible by the minority, die-hard insurgents.
