OT: American Spirit, there was another company, NESS energy, which had a similar approach. NESS was based out of Texas and used "biblical prophecy" to search for oil in Israel. NESS's president Hayseed Stephens had run the same scam back in 1984-85. I don't know if Stephens invented this particular scam, but he made millions from it.

This story is just weird. It exposes the irrational zealotry of the typical Bushie from Texas. The combo of oil profits and fundamentalist superstition combining to be at the herart of some of Bush's biggest mistakes. There is a degree of madness in the Bushie rightwing.

NESS was exposed in the fall of of 1999, however this didn't prevent cultists from being fleeced of millions of dollars.
