Mostly they are opposed because the boy scouts discriminate. As far as I know there is no problem with girl scouts, because they do not discriminate, and welcome gays. You should probably be more careful in future lumping boy scouts and girl scouts together- they are very different organizations. detnews.com "The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are heavily into "God, Home and Country" knowledge and responsibilities."

when i was in the boy scouts i didn't know what gay was. later i learned about half the boys in my grammar school class turned out gay. at the ages we played , when to school and joined boy scouts i doubt they thought about sexuality. Not being in that position hard to tell. At what age do boys develop know about there sexual preferences. I think i fell in love in first grade. Lastly, i never remember God being mentioned in boy scout meetings. I do remember steal the flag, bean bag games, study for certain merit badges, how to do first aid. etc etc.. camp out on weekends , learn to start a fire , cook and clean up . things like learning how to get along with other boys , accept responsibility, do good deeds.. oh, and learned how to smoke cigs.
