Look it up. The comment is 100% accurate. Every dime that comes out of your pay check for Social Security and Medicare has to be matched by your employer, and is part of your employer's cost to employ you. Every expense added to that cost means your pay check is smaller.

The math is simple for anyone who doesn't have to take off their shoes to count beyond ten. If your employer pays you $15 an hour, and pays the government another $5 an hour in taxes, his cost to employ you is $20 per hour. Your employer doesn't care who gets the money, all he cares about is the bottom line. Without the $5 per hour overhead added to his costs, your hourly rate would be $20.
