I thought we were talking about what worked and what didn't with regard to minimizing the harm from terrorism. You did, after all, respond to my assertion that we couldn't shortcut the cooperative, complex and slow process of identifying, locating and neutralizing terrorists by asserting that such efforts didn't "work" for the 9/11 incident.

I pointed out that they didn't "work" because we didn't do even a "d" job of using what we had gathered through our admittedly weak efforts and then you changed the subject to whether the great Satan Clinton was responsible for denutting the law enforcement and intelligence agencies. But I don't really care whether it was Clinton, Bush or just institutional ineptitude. You'll remember that I also said it wasn't about politics?

The point is that we will NEVER be fully safe from the threat of terrorism. We should have the courage to accept that fact, face that risk, and continue doing the moral, smart and wise things that have made us a great nation. And that, once again, is not about politics. Ed
