<<I didn't know they had farms in Beverly Hills. Or public schools. ;-) >>

Middle of Illinois. The schools ran a bond issue to build a new high school for $23 million or that was how it was advertized. The wording was vague and after it passed the tab jumped to $57 million for 3 new schools. 3 years later the school board wanted another bond issue for another $25 million that failed.

A friend of mine had a boy in high school and the kid asked him a question about doing square roots on a calculator that they studied that day. Friend, being a good parent, showed his son and then showed the lad how to do them with pencil and paper. Son did a square root with pencil and paper in class. Friend got called into the principal's office and was told if he taught his son anything the class didn't cover, the son would be expelled.
