Its actually a pretty obvious scenario. Except maybe I should have said "thousand monkeys". I like dogs more than monkeys though.

If medical research via animal testing helps scientists develop new drugs and therapies , we would be neglectful to NOT perform such research. 1,000 dogs to cure M.S.? you bet

10,000 elephants to cure alzheimers? Absolutely. An elephant NEVER forgets, you know.

cosmetics and fur or other "affluent" indulgences may be a different story, but NOT the medical research from which man has reaped much rewards.
