Smoking is a filthy habit with the only good news that smokers kill themselves quick which I believe should indeed be all up to them only.

See, I am an extremely tolerant person!

Yes, I've noticed. <g>

I guess I am surprised with the difficulty Europeans in general seem to be having quitting the habit.

After all, its no secret the harm smoking can cause.

European hotels really stink of smoke.

Any suggestions to any good European hotels that don't stink of smoke?

Preferably new hotels that never allowed smokers, rather than old hotels that have millions of dollars of repairs to make due to smoke damage from smokers. On the real estate thread, some real estate investors had to replace their walls in order to get rid of the smell of smoke, it is apparently so pervasive and damaging. Once smoke gets inside a room, it's always there, forever.

The European hotel standards are really different than American standards when it comes to stinky smoke smells, that is for sure.

But if only American hotels would ban potpourri or so-called carpet air freshner sprays as well as carpet liquid "refreshners" they stick in their vacuum cleaners! Those things are nasty. Some of the Marriott hotels just stink with it (while other Marriott hotels are so wonderful. There are no standards at all.)
