No, they were individuals who overstepped their bounds and tortured a cab driver to death (if they existed - you never answered, were these guys prosecuted or not?).

There is no torture in the social system of 99.9% of Americans. Ted's posts sometimes torture me, but that's about as close as 99.9% of (sane, normal, non-criminal) Americans get. You should rephrase your statement to "they were part of a recently adoption military interrogation system that is alleged to include torture".
