The tide may already have turned in Aus, and signs of it in the UK. So when will it be the US's turn?

"There are always buyers"

That's what would get you. Houses aren't stocks. Sometimes, there aren't any buyers.

"The Economist" predicts housing crash... bagnewsnotes.typepad.com

this is the magazine that predicted oil would fall to $5 right before it sextupled (and counting). this is the magazine that has predicted a dollar crash right before every major dollar rally.

the housing crash is doomed.

>>>>>Another rule: wait until the story changes.<<<<<

The last drop in real estate 'winter 89' colors my thinking today. Although I held a majority of a different class of real estate then, I still have a hang over from that experience. I was basically in the second phase of developing high end buildable single family lots when the market turned. For my holdings one mite as well as slammed a door. I'd say three months and I was toast. The capper was I could of gotten out from under were it not for a mid stream newly added layer of approval by the governing body which held me back just long enough to close the coffin. Or checked my greed and took an offer I'd gotten earlier that summer which in hindsight is what I wish I'd done.
By broker at the time really wishes he had taken an offer he'd had earlier for his development sense he ended up living in a rented apartment.
So this time I've been selling and may sell again from where I'm currently typing form. I don't have to nor need to sell this little house but the money is so good and the down side is so unknown I'm very tempted.
