Those guys are off their rockers. Peak Oil people will tell you that the day we run out of oil, we'll all be back in caves living without technology. One reason they cite is that we make plastics out of oil. The fact is that plastics can be made without oil. Everything that we do today with oil and oil byproducts can be made without oil. In some cases, MANY TIMES CHEAPER! However, oil companies and their lobbyists have a stranglehold on our economy and that of the world. They won't give that power and wealth up easily, at least until the resource at their foundation gets all tapped out. In addition, Peak Oil conspiracy theorists are extremist by their very nature. So they disseminate alot of misinformation with just enough truth in it to intrigue people. We should be embracing the end of oil, not trying to delay it. One thing coming from Peak Oil people is their efforts to develop alternatives. I'm all for that.
