oh come on!

personally, I think that reeks of mob mentality.

if you don't want to hear what he has to say, just put him on ignore. You have the power to edit the posts you read, why force your views on others about who and what should be heard?

The use of the word "f*ck" these days remains unnaceptable in intelligent and informed company, but not in his crowd.

In other words, anybody in the vicinity of Dick Cheney is unintelligent and uninformed?! :-)

ATTENTION THREAD MEMBERS! (Edited)

Here is a draft of a letter of support for Sioux Pal's continued suspension, to be sent to SI Admin today.

Please, right away from you:

-- any suggestions for further points to be made
-- your support in the form of inclusion of your posting name

========================================================

Dear SI Admin,

The undersigned write to request that you continue to suspend posting privileges immediately for the Moderator of the thread "Sioux Nation" for these reasons:

-- as moderator, he can perform his functions while banned. He has allowed free participation to anyone for very short periods only and then only under pressure. He has banned for totally arbitrary and capricious reasons. He favors personal abuse of others by his favorites. In our view, those are the people that sully the threads on SI, and as proof of that we suggest that you go to the investment threads on Yahoo. Probably looking at any thread for 10 posts should convince you on this point.

-- very often scatalogical language is used by such people as part of their personal abuse and invective. This has been tolerated by Sioux Pal when directed against his personal enemies, regardless of the otherwise meritorious
nature of the contributions his enemies have to make.

The use of the word "f*ck" these days remains unacceptable in intelligent and informed company, but not in his crowd.

Among those you will find good discussions of the use of the
word such as:

Those who cannot discuss politics without vulgarity should perhaps take their dirty mouths to Yahoo.

We understand that television often goes for the least common denominator. We were unaware we were. If so, inform us. We need another platform.

While this may be an ADULT environment, adults with worthwhile matters to discuss need no such language.

"laura bush" aka bonnuss_in_austin was terminated for such language. SiouxPal should also be.

"In short, we believe that cutting the posting privileges of
Sioux Pal and leaving a moderated thread unmoderated is unjustified, unnecessary and unwise."
The above sentence is nonsense, as you know, and illustrates the ignorance of its composer.

The one thing I would agree with is updating TOU to reflect actual practice.

"Understand that there is a fine line between the application of your "property rights" as SI Admin and the
"freedom of speech" rights granted in the U.S. Constitution and amendments."
THe above sentence is again nonsense. THe First Amendment is a limitation on the governments, not SI.

"So I think you would agree that your censoring rights are considerably less than those of a Minister over the activity within his/her Church or a School Teacher over the activity in his/her classroom. And likely less than those applied to broadcast over the public air waves."
More nonsense. A minister can decide acceptable speech in his church. A teacher is a public employee acting for the gov't and as such is bound by its rules.

"Let's simply find an adult and non-repressive answer to the
so-called problem and restore our Moderator forthwith."
Their moderator can moderate while suspended.

Put SiouxPal back in his cell.

Sincerely,

(SI members)
Lazarus Long
