I think American car manufacturers should start to embrace the new hybrid technology and stop cranking out all the trucks that people really don't need...

Just be aware that you might not save any money in the long term buying hybrid now. If you add the extra cost (and no good deals) of something like a Prius over a fuel efficient gasoline only car like a Civic, you might have to drive 200k miles to break even. More importantly, this is new tech (roughly 1% or less of the market now), and complex, that means a good chance of expensive repair bills down the line. Did you read the current articles about the Prius just shutting down on the highway? Throw in battery pack replacement costs and things could get ugly in a hurry. Just my 2 cents,
