Yes, I agree. Mostly, the hybrid owners of today are paying an extra price to feel like they are doing something good for our country. They want to do that, because many of us feel that our gov't isn't doing anything to help our economy get off the oil dependency.

The prices will come down eventually, but I think the whole industry needs to be goosed a little with gov't help. Instead of cutting taxes to the rich or sending someone to Mars, we should be thinking about how to grow an industry whose technology exists today and can help us conserve oil-based fuels.

The Prius is a little more than a hybrid, though. It has some very appealing new features. I hope they put some of those into the Camry. What I'd really like is a Camry hybrid that gets 40 mpg or so. I hope they don't make the same mistake as Honda did with their Accord. Honda used hybrid technology to give their V6 a little more power. I thin they forgot to check in with consumers. We buy hybrids to get good gas mileage, not to add more horsepower.
