There are at least two convicted monopolists on that list.

"I see Intel ranked Number 3"

Sigh. That again. Note that the ethical rating says absolutely nothing about how a company competes, but addresses other areas. Probably because there is no way to measure such activity. So the fact that Intel ranks 3rd says nothing about it as a competitor.

But you probably knew that already.

Intel sells total solutions not just a chip.

1. What is the ranking of Intels brand name worth? You get that, now what is AMD's brand worth. I would rather put Honda on my car than Kia.

2. Can AMD guarantee continued platform and chipset development or do they say talk to NVIDIA / VIA and hope they will?

3. Does AMD have manufacturing redundancy?

4. Does AMD have a developer forum? They do now recently because they saw they were not competing. What about compilers, software help?

5. Think of supply chain management only having to deal with one vendor for several products (cpu, chipset, wireless, MB design) vs. cost to get all this in place and ensure volumes from each source

Yes AMD has a great CHIP, but lacks in total solution to customer ---> less value even though cheaper better chip

I wonder if Enron made that list a few years back?
