yeah, I'm trying to figure out how to do that. I know the Civic GX capacity is 8 gasolene gallon equivalents @ 3600 psi and the cost is $1.11 for CNG, but I don't know what the units are for the $1.11 and I don't know what units are in a gasolene gallon equivalent.

Figured it all out with the help of my home natural gas supplier.

1 therm = 100K BTUs
1 gal gas = 125K BTUs
CNG home price = $1.21/therm = $1.51/gge (gasoline gallon equivalents)
CNG retail price = $2.00/gge
reg gas retail price = $2.30/gal

1 gal gas = 1.25 therms
Honda GX tank capacity 7.2 gge = 9 therms @ 3000 psi
1 tank CNG fillup at home = 9 * $1.21 = $10.89 ($.048/mile)
1 tank CNG fillup retail = $14.40 ($.065/mile)
1 tank reg gas fillup retail = $16.56 ($.074/mile)

annual savings if drive 11K miles = $286
extra cost to purchase Honda GX over regular Civic = $3,500
extra cost to purcahse garage refueler = $3,000
total extra cost = $6,500
tax deduction of $2K = $560 savings in taxes
total extra cost less tax break = $5,940
time to break even = 20 yrs 9 mos

The good news is that CNG prices have remained flat since the 70's (http://www.eere.energy.gov/afdc/resources/pricereport/pdfs/afpr_12_27.pdf). So it is immune to ME lunacy and the U.S. and Canada combined can supply themselves. In addition, if oil prices continue to rise and stay high for a long period of time, then that will directly cut down on the number of years to break even. Lastly, the Honda GX contributes almost no air pollution.

Then on top of all that, you get to fill up your Honda GX in your own garage (http://www.myphill.com/).
